Trekking
There are reguler trekking organizations in Mersin due to its well geographical situation.
The Plateaus of Turkey southern coast lie high in the Taurus Mountains. Providing refuge from the intense summer heat and ample grazing for the domestic animals, these pastures and meadows are rich in the variety of both vegetation and wildlife.
Some of main tours as follows:
Camliyayla (Namrun)
Transportation: It is reached by buses by a 90 kms of asphalted road.
Properties: The plateau is on a large area at altitude of 1430 metres and it has culturel and historical beauties. Its subconstruction is completed there are summer houses at the plateau.
The region has a rich wild life.Cehennem stream and its around is saved as rotection and reproduction region for wild goats (Capra aegagrus) The Sebil- Cehennemderesi Canyon is ideal for trekking .
Sportive Line Fishing is possible at Cehennemderesi. Namun Castle and the garden of the Papaz are main sightseeings.
Gozne Plateau
Transportation: It is reached by a 27 kms road by minibuses.
Properties: The plateau is at the northern of Icel at a 1200 metres altitude. The plateau is covered with pine, juniperus, oak ,apple, cherr and quince trees. The subconstruction is completed and there is PTT, gendarma and village clinic.Gozne Castle and its around is ideal for camping.
Sogucak (Bekiralani) Plateau
Transportation: The plateau is at the 24 km southern of Icel. It is got by Gozne road by minibuses from Mersin.
Properties: There are summer houses of people who resident in Icel.The subconstruction is completed.
Askankoy Plateau
Transportation: It is got by a 52 km asphalted road from Icel.
Properties: Aslakoy is founded among the Taurus mountains and it is full of fruit and vegetable gardens.It is convenient for camping and bird observation .
Findikpinari Plateau
Transportation: It is got to by turning at the 12 th km of Icek-antalya road where Mezitli is located and then by the 32 km asphalted road. There are minibuses between Icel and Mezitli.
Properties:
This high plateau which has virgin natura and abundant oxygen, is surrounded by hills. The hills are covered with pine and juniperus and maquis trees ,the inside areas are covered withfruit and vegetable gardens.
Erdemli-Sorgun Plateau
Transportation :The plateau village is got by 41 km asphalted and 4 km. stabilized road.
Properties: The village is founded among the hills, at a small valley.It is surrounded by apple trees. There are typical plateau houses . Historical observaton tureet is an interesting remain to visit. |
